"TELL ME A STORY..."

STEVE MADEJA

"Tell me a story." I was on my high school debate team at the time. I had sharp tongue, a thick skull, and a nose for research, yet no matter how well-prepared I came, I found . One day, I went into my usual firehose of facts when my coach held up his hand. "Steve," he said, "it takes more than the facts to win. Stop. Take a breath. Now, tell me a story."

I've tried to do just that in my 17 years in the creative industry. It started when I was a junior producer at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where I learned that you can (and must, if you want to keep your sanity) make any subject interesting if you find the right style and story.

As senior creative director at Informa TechTarget, I’ve been responsible for building content campaigns for SMBs and Fortune 500s, designing and executing the perfect mix of videos, animations, virtual events, and written content to help marketers meet their objectives. Before that, I was responsible for building our animation product line, developing the product, team, and workflows that would transform a single-animator offering into a global team generating $1M+ annually. I also designed our suite of event production offerings to help customers maximize their presence at conferences with similar results.

In previous jobs, I’ve worked as a post-production supervisor at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch and producer at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where I learned that you can make any story interesting if you tell it the right way. In my spare time, I continue to freelance for smaller companies, from startups to travel shows to non-profits.

When I’m not buried under pitch decks and After Effects projects, you can find me baking, reading up on New York City history (I’m also a licensed NYC tour guide!), and hanging out with my wife, son, and 14-year-old puppy Shaggy.
